Students engage in an in-depth study of the metabolism and function of lipids, amino acids, and nucleic acids. Students also expand their understanding protein structure/function relationships, performing multiple sequence alignments and exploring protein structures using UCSF Chimera. The creation or modification of a protein-related entry is an alternative to the traditional final paper.
