This course is designed to engage students in a meaningful exploration of culture and cultural anthropology. Beginning with a basic overview of ethnographic research methods, students will read and critique texts, perform their own research, and ultimately apply their overall coursework knowledge to produce a fieldwork project.
This course presents the nature of humankind, culture, and society, including the concepts and theories used for their analysis and understanding. Prehistory and cultural growth, social organization, family systems, politics and economics, war, religion, values, culture shock, and applied anthropology are examined.
