This course presents historical and cultural background on BLUE music ca. 1900-1960, focusing on the formation of American vernacular musics, the creation of country music industries, and the folk phenomenon of the mid-1900s. This wikipedia project leads students through creating a biographical entry on a person whose musical work has been significant within one more more of these three areas.
