Assignment - Evaluate Wikipedia

In this assignment you will chose an article on Wikipedia that is NOT the one you will edit for your project. You could purposefully pick a good article in order to get a sense for what you should try to emulate or you can pick a bad article in order to get a sense for what needs to be fixed in yours.

Assignment - Exercise

For this assignment, you'll be selecting a topic off of the list your instructor has compiled, writing a few sentences in your sandbox highlighting the major weaknesses of this article as it is now, and listing 2-3 sources on your bibliography page for the article. Note: this is the article that you will spend the rest of the semester working with and it is different from the article you will select to evaluate for this week's other assignment.

If your article doesn't already have a Sources/Resources/Further Reading section, add one and make sure it has at least five sources.

Week 12

Course meetings

Milestones

Now's the time to revisit your text and refine your work. You may do more research and find missing information; rewrite the lead section to represent all major points; reorganize the text to communicate the information better; or add images and other media. If you are behind, use this as an opportunity to catch up. If not, use this time to make sure you meet next week's goal of 1000 words and are getting close to a polished article!

You will answer some questions on Canvas explaining what you spent your time on this week.

Assignment - Respond to your peer review

You probably have some feedback from other students and possibly other Wikipedians. Consider their suggestions, decide whether it makes your work more accurate and complete, and edit your draft to make those changes. You will submit an assignment on Canvas that explains what you did to respond to your peer review.
