History for Secondary Social Science teachers is the capstone course for the subject matter sequence. This 4-unit course is designed to help future teachers draw upon their existing knowledge of history to connect context, academic scholarship, and pedagogy.
This class reviews the content and historiography of World and US History, relating these areas of knowledge to history pedagogy and cognition. Students examine the state standards for U.S., and World History and learn how to bridge academic knowledge and content standards in a secondary school setting.
The following Historical Thinking Skills will be incorporated: • Historical significance • Change and Continuity • Cause and Consequence • Evidence and Interpretation • Comparison
