This is an upper-division undergraduate course in the film and media studies program on representations of women in film and television. I will be asking students to edit or write Wikipedia articles related to representations of real or fictional women in media and popular culture. We will also be thinking about how power and knowledge are gendered in these representations, so students may be focusing primarily on female protagonists, shows/films featuring female protagonists, representations of women/gender/femininity/masculinity and power, and women in real life in positions of power.
