Wikipedia:WikiProject Years/Category hierarchy anomalies
Appearance
This page lists two kinds of anomalies in category hierarchies for country chronologies, as a result of which the standard category header templates are not used or do not create the required navigation links.
In the first case, the current workaround is either
- to subst: the templates and edit the results, or
- to create the page manually and only include the parent categories that exist.
In the second case, the current workaround is either
- as (1.) above,
- use standard templates and add category redirects for navigation between old and new names, or
- use specifically tailored versions of the templates for the periods around the change of name, e.g. those in Category:20th-century establishments templates by country.
Chronology categories that do not have the usual full parenting
[edit]This list is incomplete; you can help by adding missing items. |
These are small or sparsely-populated hierarchies that do not require all the usual parents, e.g. decade or "by year" categories.
- Category:Establishments in the Crimean Khanate
- Category:Establishments in the Free City of Danzig
- Category:Establishments in Italian Somaliland
- Category:Establishments in the Federation of South Arabia by year (1963–1967)
- Category:Disestablishments in the Federation of South Arabia by year
- Category:Establishments in North-Eastern Rhodesia by year (1900–1911)
- Category:Disestablishments in North-Eastern Rhodesia by year
Regions that are not countries:
- Category:Establishments in Rodrigues by year – island of Mauritius
- Category:Establishments in Schleswig-Holstein (only populated with 1838)
- Category:Establishments in Frankfurt (as a city-state; only populated with 1858, between end of HRE in 1906 and annexation by Prussia in 1866)
Countries with name changes in chronology categories

- Note
- Some category hierarchies have categories for both old and new names for the year/decade in which the name changed.
