Online databases
[edit]The following sources are sufficiently reliable to use as references, and may be of use:
- Australian Dictionary of Biography Online
- Oxford Dictionary of National Biography (Subscription, but many libraries, especially in the UK, offer access to library card holders)
- Women and Social Movements in the United States, 1600-2000 (Some free content, more by subscription, but some libraries offer access to library card holders)
- Jewish Women: A Comprehensive Historical Encyclopedia (Free content with articles written by scholars in the area)
- Grove Music Online (Access to the complete New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians (2nd edition, 2001). Subscription, but many libraries, especially in the UK, offer access to library card holders)
- Worldwide Guide to Women Leaders (Contains many lists of women leaders including many historical women such as leaders of governments, clergy, etc. No biographies, but useful for identifying needed articles on Wikipedia)
