Wikipedia:WikiProject Warhammer 40,000/Temp
Proposed WikiProject
[edit]I think the articles regarding Warhammer 40,000 need a more structured, controlled format and writing style. At the moment bits and bobs are done randomly but I think with a blizt of work, a large proportion of the articles could be Featured Article material.
For example, a series of templates could be created:
- Army description infobox - for each playable army
- Notable character infobox - for each of the characters with individual articles
A general one for the bottom of each article- I have now completed this, however there are still a few articles that need it to be added.Space Marine Chapter infobox - for those chapters that deserve their own article.-I have created this - there are still quite a few articles to add it to though. I am working through them slowly. The emblems are all taken from the uk games workshop site as they can be claimed for use under Fair Use terms. Photos of well done models with the correct emblems/colour schemes should be used to replace them over time though.
Also, a formalised structure for the articles (a set of headings etc...) should be implemented.
There are also a lot of redlinks that could do with being fixed (by creating articles) and a lack of information about various armies. For example, there are now 2 pages regarding the weapons, equipment and vehicles of the Imperium but no such listing for orks, chaos, eldar etc...
A central place for co-ordinating this sort of work would be good but I don't want to create such a project unless I know there is support.
Also, as someone else has pointed out it would a good mechanism for determining canonicity and notability criteria.
Having done a more thorough analysis of articles it appears there are a lot of the following:
- Unreferenced Articles
- Stubs
- Articles that should be merged together with similar articles
- Articles written in a tone that is not suitable for Wikipedia
It will take a while to fix this with no co-ordination, so a project would be advantageous.
I have now added a subpage to this section. It is User:Localzuk/Warhammer 40,000 Project/References. It is hopefully going to become a list of all the canon references from books and magazines, correctly formatted for easy insertion into the relevant articles. Add to it as you please, just keep them formatted correctly.
I have also added a subpage of templates that will come under the project at User:Localzuk/Warhammer 40,000 Project/Templates. The page is intended to allow quick copy/pasting of the templates for people working on the project.
