LSU joins Public Policy Initiative
[edit]Louisiana State University's Communication Across the Curriculum program is beginning what both sides hope to be a long-standing partnership with the Wikimedia Foundation to encourage the use of Wikipedia as a teaching tool at LSU. Wikimedia Foundation staffers Annie Lin and Rod Dunican presented a workshop to nearly 40 interested faculty and staff members at LSU last week, including several public policy professors who are interested in participating in the Public Policy Initiative in the spring. LSU has kindly agreed to host one of five regional Campus Ambassador trainings in January. Read more about LSU's Communication Across the Curriculum program.
Student's work undergoing Good Article process
[edit]A student in the Public Policy Initiative has submitted the article "Niqāb in Egypt" to the Good Article nomination process. In Wikipedia, the Good Article designation denotes articles that are well-written, factually accurate and verifiable, broad in coverage, neutral, not changing, and illustrated by images. Good Articles are one step below Featured Articles in the assessment ranking on Wikipedia. Student Rama21's article is the first to go through the nomination process among all the Public Policy Initiative articles so far. Read the article.
A couple more professor slots open
[edit]Are you a professor interested in participating in the Public Policy Initiative in the spring? Or do you know someone who is? We have room to support just a couple more classes for the spring term. If you're interested in using Wikipedia as a teaching tool in a public policy class, please contact Campus Team Coordinator Annie Lin at alin at wikimedia dot org for more information.
