1963 ch. 1012: Upon completion and acceptance of the relocation, reconstruction or improvement of that portion of the above described highway from the southerly line of the village of Croton-on-Hudson, northerly through the town of Cortlandt, village of Buchanan to Welcher avenue in the city of Peekskill, such portion of such highway as now located shall be redesignated as alternate route 2 and shall be continued, constructed, maintained and improved by the state as provided by law for other state highways.

1934 ch. 680: Upon the completion and acceptance of that portion of route 3 extending from an intersection with state highway 5328-a in a northerly and northwesterly direction to an intersection with state highway 415 near its intersection with state highway 1838, the superintendent of public works is hereby authorized and directed to enter an official order of abandonment to the Interstate Palisades Park commission for maintenance of state highways 5573 and 5498. Upon such completion and acceptance of the aforesaid portion of route 3 the superintendent of public works is hereby authorized and directed to enter an official order of abandonment to the county of Orange for maintenance of state highway 8142 and that portion of state highway 1838 lying east of state highway 415.
1938 ch. 223: Upon the completion and acceptance of that portion of route 3 extending from the dividing line between Rockland and Orange counties, thence northerly through or westerly of the village of Highland Falls on or westerly of highways 5480 and 8078 to a point at or near the junction of highway 5328-a with highway 5573; thence northeasterly, northwesterly, partly within the West Point military reservation, and northerly to a point on state highway 5591 or state highway 415 near their junctions in the proximity of Moodna creek, the superintendent of public works is hereby authorized and directed to enter an official order of abandonment to the Palisades Interstate Park Commission for maintenance of state highways 5573 and 5498, and upon such aforesaid completion and acceptance, the superintendent of public works shall enter an official order of abandonment to the county of Orange for maintenance of all that portion of state highway 415 south of its intersection with state highway 8142, and to the town of Cornwall that portion of highway 1838 lying east of the aforesaid portion of route three except that portion lying within the limits of Cornwall village which shall be abandoned to the village of Cornwall, and the superintendent of public works shall abandon to the town of Cornwall all that portion of state highway 415 lying between its intersection with state highway 8142 and Moodna creek, and to the towns of Cornwall and New Windsor those portions of state highway 5591 lying within their borders.
1941 ch. 63: Upon the completion and acceptance of that portion of route 3 extending from the dividing line between Rockland and Orange counties, thence northerly through or westerly of the village of Highland Falls on or westerly of highways 5480 and 8078 to a point at or near the junction of highway 5328-a with highway 5573; thence northeasterly, northwesterly, partly within the West Point military reservation, and northerly to a point on state highway 5591 or state highway 415 near their junctions in the proximity of Moodna creek, the superintendent of public works is hereby authorized and directed to enter an official order of abandonment to the county of Orange for maintenance of all that portion of state highway 415 south of its intersection with state highway 8142, and to the town of Cornwall that portion of highway 1838 lying east of the aforesaid portion of route three except that portion lying within the limits of Cornwall village which shall be abandoned to the village of Cornwall, and the superintendent of public works shall abandon to the towns of Cornwall and New Windsor all that portion of state highway 415 lying between its intersection with state highway 8142 and its intersection with state highway 8537, and to the towns of Cornwall and New Windsor those portions of state highway 5591 lying within their borders.
1938 ch. 223: In the event of the construction of the highway above described as "to a point near the hamlet of Glasco, thence northerly and northeasterly to a point on state highway number 5169 at a point near the hamlet of Malden", in lieu of the construction of the highway above described as "from a point on state highway 5601 at station 88+10 northerly to a point on state highway 5601 at station 15+30", and upon its completion and acceptance, the superintendent of public works is hereby authorized and directed to enter an official order of abandonment of the state highways and portions of state highways lying east of the last above described highway, as follows: abandon to the town of Saugerties the portions of state highways 228 and 5169; abandon to the village of Saugerties the portion of said state highway 1540, and also the whole of said state highway 5601.
1938 ch. 223: In the event of the construction of the highway above described as "from a point on state highway 5601 at station 88+10 northerly to a point on state highway 5601 at station 15+30", in lieu of the construction of the highway above described as "to a point near the hamlet of Glasco, thence northerly and northeasterly to a point on state highway number 5169 at a point near the hamlet of Malden", and upon its completion and acceptance, the superintendent of public works is hereby authorized and directed to enter an official order of abandonment to the village of Saugerties for future maintenance of all that portion of state highway 5601 between station 88+10 and station 39+70.
1927 ch. 295: Route 3-b. Beginning at a point about 3/4 mile north of the southerly end of SH 5498 in the county of Orange, thence southerly through lands of the West Point military reservation to a point on the main highway through the military reservation on SR 3 about 1/2 mile west of the easterly end of SH 5328.

1927 ch. 295: The highway added to the state system of highways by this act shall be exempt from the provisions of section 122-a of the highway law as amended by chapter 729 of the laws of 1926; and such highway shall be constructed and maintained by the state of New York subject to the conditions set forth in a permit granted by the war department dated October 21, 1926, pursuant to the authority vested in the secretary of war by section 6 of the act of congress approved July 5, 1884 (23 Stat. 104).
