I did some fairly extensive cleanup on this article. What else does it need? --Coredesat talk! 00:11, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- Preparations and more impact, ideally. If you're lucky, you might be able to find some Preliminary storm reports by local NWS offices. They usually have really specific impact, along with preparations. Hurricanehink (talk) 00:54, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- Preparations are exceedingly minimal - they just consist of watches and warnings. No evacuations or other precautions. Storm reports should be easy to find. I'll look later. --Coredesat talk! 01:17, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, if you find the storm reports, look to see if anyone took any action. As for the preparations section, you still should include the watches and warnings. Hurricanehink (talk) 01:38, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, could this be B-class as it is, and possibly higher once I find more information? I added a preparations section and fixed up the naming part. --Coredesat talk! 00:05, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- Here's some more info. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 00:37, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

- It looks good. A few things though before I bump it up (though it's close). The intro should either be three good paragraphs (not needed), or two full paragraphs, though not three small pararaphs. The impact section should specify where the damage occurred. This NCDC link could help add a bit of info. Per the link, the damage was a bit higher ($114,000). It should also be mentioned that the hurricane spawned a tornado near Ocracoke per the TCR, which caused minor roof damage to a couple of buildings per another NCDC link. Also using NCDC, the interaction between the storm and a high pressure system produced power outages, minor damage, and 2 deaths in New Jersey, per this link. Here's another NCDC link as well as this that should be added for New York, and here's info on what happened in Massachusetts. All that info should be intergrated in. Hurricanehink (talk) 00:41, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll add that in over the next couple of days. --Coredesat talk! 00:43, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

It took a while, but I added all the useful information I could get from the NCDC reports, and added a couple of images. How's it look? --Coredesat talk! 10:27, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- Much better, but wasn't the damage total at $500,000 or something according to some of the above links. íslenskur fellibylur #12 (samtal) 12:03, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- The TCR said that only $100,000 of the damage was directly attributable to Gustav itself. Should the indirect damage figure (it'd be a total of about $360,000) be included? --Coredesat (talk) 18:36, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- Good question. In the past, we've usually included indirect deaths like rip currents or waves caused by storm and high pressure, but damage is different. I'm leaning towards including it in the infobox, and clarifying in the impact section that is not directly caused by the storm. Hurricanehink (talk) 20:28, 1 October 2006 (UTC)
- That clarification is in the impact section already, so I'll go ahead and add up all the damage amounts (it's $340,000 - using the NCDC report and the official TCR damage figure), and add a small disclaimer. --Coredesat (talk) 01:17, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
- Nice. I put it at B class. Hurricanehink (talk) 01:33, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

GA-class now. I think this could still be better, given all the information that's there. Any chance of this happening? If so, are there any suggestions? --Coredesat 19:35, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- Try and use discussions from the NHC archive. They provide a surfeit of information, primarily to the storm history. Also, do the tropical weather outlooks mention what occurred before September 6? Was that truly the beginning of the storm? That was only one day after Edouard passed through the area. Did Edouard have anything to do with Gustav? According to Accuweather, the mid-level circulation from Edouard "became the match that lit the fire for Gustav". That might not be the best source for the interaction between the two, so maybe there's something else out there. Everything else looks pretty good. Hurricanehink (talk) 19:50, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- The TCR should probably mention that as well. Titoxd(?!?) 20:39, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'll look over all the info later this week during my fall break. --Coredesat 23:46, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- I went ahead and grabbed some things out of the storm history and expanded it somewhat, providing more detailed information. Despite what Joe Bastardi said, Edouard did not play a role in the formation of Gustav, though Fay did. --Coredesat 23:54, 22 October 2006 (UTC)
- OK, looks good. One more thing. Gustav made landfall on Newfoundland as a hurricane. Was there any damage there? Hurricanehink (talk) 00:36, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- Very little. I'll add a note if there isn't already one there. --Coredesat 02:04, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- And there already is a note saying that damage was minimal. I added "in Atlantic Canada" to it, since aside from the downed trees and damaged docks, there wasn't much damage in the Maritimes. --Coredesat 02:24, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
