The railroad of Yadkin Railroad Company, herein called the Yadkin Railroad, is a single-track road wholly within the State of North Carolina and extends from a connection with the Southern and the North Carolina at Salisbury to Norwood, 40.559 miles. In addition to this amount of first main track this company owns 10.367 miles of yard and side tracks, a total of 50.926 miles of all tracks. The company also owns jointly with others 0.229 mile of yard and side track, which the Southern uses jointly with the other joint owners.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The Yadkin Railroad was incorporated April 5, 1871, by special act of North Carolina. Its charter was amended by special acts ratified March 4, 1879, March 3, 1887, and February 2, 1893.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The 40.559 miles of road, extending from Salisbury to Norwood, N. C., owned by the Yadkin Railroad on date of valuation, has all been acquired by construction. Construction was commenced in 1889 and the road was opened for operation on May 29, 1891.
