The railroad of The Woodworth & Louisiana Central Railway Company, herein called the Woodworth & Louisiana Central, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located in the central part of Louisiana. The owned main line extends eastwardly from Woodworth to Lamorie, 5.898 miles. The Woodworth & Louisiana Central also owns and uses 0.580 mile of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 6.478 miles of all tracks owned. The Woodworth & Louisiana Central is an industrial railroad. It reports for the year ending December 31, 1919, that it handled 51,125 tons of freight, of which 50,228 represented products of forests. Most of this traffic was received from The Long–Bell Lumber Company, which is controlled by the same interests as the railroad company.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The Woodworth & Louisiana Central was incorporated December 8, 1900, under the general laws of the State of Louisiana, and was organized on December 10, 1900.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The entire 5.898 miles of road owned was acquired by construction in 1901. A narrow-gauge line extending from Woodworth to Nelsonville, 11 miles, was purchased from the Rapids Lumber Company in August, 1908, and disposed of by sale to the same company in April, 1916.
