The property owned and operated by the Winston-Salem Terminal Company, hereinafter called the carrier, consists of a passenger terminal and tracks appurtenant thereto, located in the city of Winston-Salem, NC The mileage consists of 1.049 miles of yard tracks and sidings. The station building is a modern 3-story brick and concrete structure 111 feet by 118 feet with a large concourse and platforms covered with butterfly sheds. There are 3 through passenger tracks and 1 stub-end track used for loading baggage and express.
The carrier is controlled jointly by the Southern Railway Company, Norfolk and Western Railway Company, and the Winston-Salem Southbound Railway Company. The property is operated by the carrier as a joint facility in the interest of the controlling companies under an agreement dated October 1, 1924.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated March 1, 1922, under general laws of North Carolina, for the purpose of constructing, maintaining, and operating, or leasing to others, a union passenger station and other terminal facilities at Winston-Salem, N. C. The date of organization was March 25, 1922.
