[edit]The railroad of The Verde Valley Railway Company, hereinafter called the Verde Valley Railway, is a single-track line, located entirely within the State of Arizona and extending from Cedar Glade to Clarkdale, a distance of 38.438 miles.
Introductory
[edit]The Verde Valley Railway is a corporation of the State of Arizona, having its principal office at Prescott, Ariz. It is controlled by the Santa Fe through ownership of the entire capital stock. On the other hand, the records reviewed indicate that the company itself does not control any other common-carrier corporation. The property of the Verde Valley Railway has always been operated under lease by the Santa Fe.
Corporate History
[edit]The Verde Valley Railway was incorporated November 17, 1911, under the general laws of the Territory of Arizona.
Development of Fixed Physical Property
[edit]The mileage owned by the Verde Valley Railway, amounting to 38.438 miles, was constructed for it by the Santa Fe during the years 1911, 1912, and 1913. All of the road had been opened for operation on February 1, 1913.
Leased Railway Property
[edit]The entire property of the Verde Valley Railway is leased to the Santa Fe for a term of 49 years from November 1, 1912. The terms of the lease and the rental accrued for the year ending on date of valuation are given in the section on leased railway property in the report on the Santa Fe.
