The railroad of Tonopah and Tidewater Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge railroad, extending from Ludlow, Calif., to a junction with the road of the Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroad Company at Gold Center, Nev., near Beatty, Nev., and from Death Valley Junction to Ryan, Calif. The carrier also owns jointly and equally with The California, Arizona & Santa Fe Railway Company, a subsidiary of The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company, 0.658 mile of terminal track in Ludlow, Calif. In Appendix 1 will be found a general description of the characteristics of the property of the carrier. A survey of the lines owned by the carrier on June 30, 1915, shows the following mileage in the States indicated: [table]

Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated July 19, 1904, under the general incorporation act of New Jersey, for an unlimited period. Under the provisions of its charter it was authorized to construct a railway from Ivanpah and from Ludlow, Calif., to Tonopah, Nev.
