The railroad of The Prescott & Northwestern Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in the southwestern part of Arkansas. The owned mileage extends in a northwesterly direction from Prescott to Highlands, Ark., a distance of 31.286 miles. The carrier also owns and uses 8.044 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 39.330 miles of all tracks. The carrier is classed as a tap-line carrier. It reports that during the year 1916 it handled 136,169 tons of freight, of which 109,942 tons represented products of forests, most of which was received from the Ozan–Graysonia Lumber Company. The principal stockholders and officials of the Ozan–Graysonia Lumber Company are also stockholders and officials of the carrier.
