The railroad of the Port Huron & Detroit Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located in the southeastern part of Michigan. The main line extends southerly from Port Huron to Marine City, a distance of 15.717 miles. The carrier also owns 2.708 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 18.425 miles of all tracks owned and used. The carrier is an industrial railroad. The principal industries served are controlled by the same industries that control the railroad.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated September 28, 1917, under the general laws of the State of Michigan, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from Port Huron, to Marine City, Mich.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, 15.717 miles, was all acquired by construction during the years 1917 and 1918 and was placed in operation in September, 1918. The construction work was performed by the Bay County Construction Company, which was affiliated with the carrier.
