Location and general description of property.—The railroad of the Peoria, Hanna City and Western Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in western Illinois. The main line extends westerly from Hollis to La Marsh, a distance of 4.471 miles. The carrier also owns 1.075 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 5.546 miles of all tracks owned and used. The carrier uses exclusively under lease land for right of way, including grading and ballast thereon, located at Hollis, and owned by the Peoria Terminal Company; also, other land for right of way, including grading and ballast thereon, also located at Hollis, and owned by the Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad. A portion of the rails and fastenings in the carrier's road is leased from The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company. The carrier is an industrial railroad. It serves, and is controlled by the same interests that control the Crescent Coal Company of Peoria, Ill.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated August 31, 1918, under the general laws of Illinois, to construct a railroad from a point at Hollis Junction, located on the right of way of the Peoria Railway Terminal Company, to Hanna City, all within Peoria County, Ill. The date of organization was September 24, 1918.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The road, all owned, was acquired by construction, 3.79 miles during 1919, and 1.25 miles during 1920 and 1921, a total of 5.04 miles. All construction work was by company forces. Portions of the track and grade were damaged by floods in 1926 and 1926. About 0.417 mile of the damaged sections was rebuilt, but about 0.57 mile was not rebuilt and is not included in the inventory. This 0.57 mile not rebuilt includes about 0.22 mile of grade not laid with rail. The mileage inventoried as of date of valuation is 4.471 miles.
