The railroad of the Oregon, California & Eastern Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in the western part of Oregon. The main line extends northeasterly from Klamath Falls to Bly, a distance of 64.866 miles, with branch lines projecting from Swan Lake Junction to Swan Lake, 1.842 miles, and from Dairy to Bonanza, 0.539 mile, aggregating 67.247 miles of main track. The carrier also owns 11.604 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 78.851 miles of all tracks owned and used. The carrier is controlled jointly by the Southern Pacific Company and the Great Northern Railway Company.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The recorded mileage owned by the carrier amounts to 67.271 miles, of which 19.068 miles was acquired by purchase from the city of Klamath Falls, Oreg., May 29, 1919, and 49.863 miles by construction, less abandonments and changes 1.660 miles. The inventoried mileage is 67.247 miles. The construction of 19.068 miles was begun by the city of Klamath Falls, Oreg., through Robert E. Strahorn, contractor. After the carrier purchased the city's interest, it took over the contractor's accounts and completed the construction. The section of road between Sprague River and Bly, Oreg., 26.550 miles, was constructed under authority granted May 3, 1926, 111 I.C.C. 3. Further details are given in the accounting report.
