The railroad property of Norfolk Terminal Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, consists of a passenger terminal located in the city of Norfolk, Va. The owned property includes the passenger station and office building, train sheds, and 0.347 mile of first main track. The carrier also owns second and other main tracks totaling 2.054 miles. There are no tracks classified as yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 2.401 miles of all tracks owned, all of which is operated by the carrier on a cost of service basis for the benefit of other carriers, who own and use their own equipment. In Appendix 1 will be found a general description of the property of the carrier.

Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated on February 2, 1910, under the laws of the State of Virginia. The terminal building and facilities were constructed by J. Henry Miller, Incorporated, of Baltimore, Md., and the Virginia Iron and Steel Company, of Roanoke, Va., independent contractors, and were opened for operation on June 1, 1912. The carrier is controlled by Norfolk and Western Railway Company, The Virginian Railway Company, and Norfolk Southern Railroad Company, through equal ownership of all the outstanding capital stock, except nine shares qualifying directors.
