The railroad of the Natchez, Urania & Ruston Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in northeastern Louisiana. The main line extends northeasterly from Urania to Olla, a distance of 5.105 miles. The carrier also owns 0.853 mile of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 5.958 miles of all tracks owned and used. The carrier is an industrial railroad. Practically all of its traffic comprises forest products, and the industry served is the Urania Lumber Company, Limited, which is financing the railroad.

The carrier was incorporated March 2, 1899, under the general laws of the State of Louisiana. The date of its organization has not been ascertainable from the records reviewed.

The owned mileage of the carrier, extending from Urania to Olla, La., a distance of 5.105 miles, was constructed during 1898 and 1899. The records reviewed do not indicate whether the construction work was performed by the carrier's forces or by contract.
