The railroad of Natchez, Columbia and Mobile Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, situated within the State of Mississippi, extending from Station 280+00 to Tilton, a distance of 24.116 miles. In addition to its owned mileage, the carrier uses, under exclusive lease from the Illinois Central Railroad Company, a line extending from Station 280+00 to Norfield, a distance of 5.309 miles. The carrier owns a number of industrial tracks and other property along this stretch of leased road. The mileage operated is classified in the trackage table in Appendix 1.
In addition to the above mileage, the carrier jointly owns and uses with the Illinois Central Railroad Company 0.561 mile of yard tracks and sidings. The reproduction costs of the carrier's portion are included under property wholly owned and used.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated on June 24, 1892, under the laws of the State of Mississippi for the purposes of constructing and operating a railroad from Natchez, Miss., ultimately to Mobile, Ala.
