The railroad of the Morristown & Erie Railroad Company, herein called the carrier, is a standard-gage, steam railroad, located in northeastern New Jersey. The main line extends northeasterly from Morristown to Essex Fells, a distance of 10.667 miles, with a branch line projecting from Monroe to Malapardis, aggregating 13.540 miles of first main track. The company also owns 0.021 mile of second main track and 3.511 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 17.072 miles of all tracks wholly owned and used. In addition, the carrier jointly owns and uses with another carrier an undivided interest in 0.572 mile of yard tracks and sidings at Essex Fells, N. J., its proportion based on ownership being 0.286 mile.
