The railroad property of the Meridian Terminal Company, hereinafter called the carrier, consists of a passenger station with necessary tracks, platforms, and train sheds for the operation of a terminal railroad at Meridian, Miss. It owns no main tracks. Its terminal property is jointly used by the following carriers, hereinafter referred to collectively as the tenant companies:
- The Alabama and Vicksburg Railway Company.
- The Alabama Great Southern Railroad Company.
- Mobile and Ohio Railroad Company.
- New Orleans and Northeastern Railroad Company.
- Southern Railway Company.
The track mileage of the carrier consists of 3.427 miles of yard tracks and sidings.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated July 18, 1904, for a limited period under the general laws of Mississippi, the purpose of incorporation being to construct and operate a passenger terminal in Meridian. The date of organization was August 10, 1904.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The property owned on date of valuation, consisting of a union passenger station and about 3 miles of yard tracks and sidings, was all acquired by construction which was commenced during the year 1905, and completed about September 1, 1906, on which latter date it was opened for operation. The construction work was performed by Charles A. Moses, Moses, of Chicago, Ill., under contract. The records reviewed did not disclose that Moses was in any manner affiliated with the carrier or the tenant companies.
