[edit]

Introductory

[edit]

The Little Rock Junction Railway is a corporation of Arkansas, having its corporate office at Little Rock, Ark., and its general administrative office at St. Louis, Mo. It is controlled by the Missouri Pacific through ownership of capital stock. The records do not indicate that this company controls any common-carrier corporation. The property of the Little Rock Junction Railway was operated by its own organization from December 9, 1884, the date of its completion, to December 31, 1889. From January 1, 1890, to December 31, 1917, it was operated successively by The Little Rock and Fort Smith Railway, the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway Company, and the Missouri Pacific, since which date it has been operated by the United States Railroad Administration as a part of the operating unit of the Missouri Pacific.

Corporate History

[edit]

The Little Rock Junction Railway was incorporated December 8, 1883, under the general laws of Arkansas, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from a point in the city of Little Rock, Ark., thence across the Arkansas River to a point at or near Baring Cross, Ark., about 2 miles. The date of organization was not determined.

Development of Fixed Physical Property

[edit]

The owned property, 0.42 mile of road and a bridge across the Arkansas River, were acquired by construction which was completed December 9, 1884.

Leased Railway Property

[edit]

The entire property is leased to the Missouri Pacific for an indefinite period, through the assumption of a lease to the St. Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway Company of January 1, 1890. The terms of the lease and the rental accrued for the seven months ended December 31, 1917, are given in the report on the Missouri Pacific.
