The railroad of Lithonia & Arabia Mountain Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad located in the south-central part of Georgia. The owned mileage extends southwesterly from Lithonia to Arabia Mountain, a distance of 3.184 miles. The carrier also owns yard and side tracks totaling 2.326 miles. Its road thus embraces 5.510 miles of all tracks owned. In Appendix 1 will be found a general description of the property of the carrier.

Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated on October 29, 1913, under the general laws of the State of Georgia, for the purpose of constructing a railroad from Lithonia to Arabia Mountain and to Mile Rock, , a total distance of from 4 to 8 miles. Its principal office is at Lithonia. The railroad was originally constructed in 1892 and 1893, by the Lithonia Granite Company. Venable Brothers acquired the property in 1895 and subsequently dismantled the line, the track being relaid by them in 1912 and 1913. By deed dated December 12, 1913, Venable Brothers conveyed the line as reconstructed to the carrier. The carrier is controlled by Louis Drach, principal owner of the Arabia Granite Company, through a voting right in a majority of the capital stock of the carrier.
