The railroad of The La Salle & Bureau County Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam railroad, located entirely within the State of Illinois. The main line extends in a northwesterly direction from the plant of the Matthiessen and Hegeler Zinc Company at La Salle to a connection with the Chicago and North Western Railway at La Salle Junction and to a connection with the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad at Hegeler, a distance of 6.396 miles. The carrier also uses under lease 0.753 mile of main track owned by the Matthiessen and Hegeler Zinc Company. The following statement shows the mileage classified according to use.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated August 30, 1890, under the general laws of the State of Illinois. The purpose for which it was incorporated and the date of organization were not disclosed by the records reviewed.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The road owned by the carrier on date of valuation was acquired by construction during the years 1891 to 1893. Operation was commenced about October 1, 1893.

HISTORY OF CORPORATE FINANCING
