The railroad of The Jackson and Eastern Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad extending in a westwardly direction from Union to Sebastopol, Miss., a distance of 13.513 miles. The carrier also owns and uses 0.702 mile of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 14.215 miles of all tracks owned.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated January 24, 1916, under the general laws of the State of Mississippi, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from Union to Jackson, Miss. The date of its organization was January 26, 1916.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The owned mileage of the carrier, extending from Union to Sebastopol, Miss., a distance of 13.513 miles, was constructed for it by S. A. Neville, an affiliated contractor, who was then president and general manager of the company. The road was opened for operation in November, 1916.
