Location and general description of property.—The railroad of the Iberia and Vermilion Railroad Company, hereinafter called the Iberia and Vermilion, is a single track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in the southern part of Louisiana. The line forms a part of the Atlantic System of the Southern Pacific Company. The owned mileage extends in an easterly direction from Abbeville to Iberia and Vermilion Junction, near Davids, a distance of 16.089 miles. The Iberia and Vermilion also owns and uses 6.102 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 22.191 miles of all tracks.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The Iberia and Vermilion was incorporated April 6, 1891, for a period of 99 years, under the general laws of the State of Louisiana, for the purpose of constructing, operating, and maintaining a railroad from some point on the Bayou Teche, at or near the town of New Iberia, to Abbeville, La. The date of organization of the Iberia and Vermilion was April 6, 1891.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the Iberia and Vermilion, extending from Abbeville to Iberia and Vermilion Junction, La., a distance of 16.089 miles, was constructed for it during the period from July, 1892, to November 27, 1892. The construction work was performed under contract by the Pacific Improvement Company, an affiliated corporation.
