The property of the Houston Municipal Railway, hereafter called the carrier, consists of tracks serving the wharves at the turning basin and industries located along the Houston ship channel in or near the city of Houston, Tex. The carrier owns 6.265 miles of first main track and 7.131 miles of yard trackage and sidings. Its road thus embraces 13.396 miles of all tracks, all of which are used jointly, under lease, by the International and Great Northern Railway Company and the Houston Belt [sic] Terminal Railway Company.

The carrier was created under section 7a of the charter of the city of Houston, passed March, 1905.

The owned mileage of the carrier, amounting to 6.265 miles of main line was acquired by construction performed by the city of Houston about August, 1915. It also owns 7.131 miles of yard tracks and sidings.
