The railroad of Holton Interurban Railway Company, herein called the Holton Interurban, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in the southern part of California, extending in a westerly direction from Holtville to Carlos, 40.920 miles. Its owned road extends from Holtville to El Centro. In addition, it leases a line owned by the Southern Pacific Company, extending from El Centro to Seeley, Calif. It also leases and operates a line owned by the San Diego and Arizona Railway Company, herein called the San Diego and Arizona, running from Seeley to Carlos. These tracks are classified in appendix 1.
Corporate history.—The Holton Interurban was incorporated December 31, 1903, under the general laws of California for a period of 50 years. It is controlled by the Holton Power Company through stock ownership. The principal incorporators were individuals affiliated with the Holton Power Company. The purpose of the incorporation was to afford transportation facilities to a townsite being developed by the Holton Town Company and adjacent agricultural lands. The detailed facts as to the development of the fixed physical property are given in appendix 2.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The line owned, 10.461 miles, was constructed by the forces of the Holton Interurban and the Holton Town Company. The rail and fastenings, all secondhand, were furnished and some work was done by the Southern Pacific Company under an agreement dated March 8, 1904.
