The railroad of the Etna and Montrose Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gauge, steam-operated, switching railroad, located at Etna, Pa. It consists of 1.033 miles of main track and 3.394 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 4.427 miles of all tracks wholly owned and used.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated April 27, 1896, under the general laws of the State of Pennsylvania, for the purpose of acquiring and operating about 6 miles of railroad near the mouth of Pine Creek, in Allegheny County, Pa.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The railroad of the carrier, consisting of 1.033 miles of main line and 3.394 miles of yard tracks and sidings, located at Etna, Pa., was acquired by purchase from the Carnegie Steel Company. The 1.033 miles of main line and 1.253 miles of yard tracks and sidings were acquired in 1905, and 2.141 miles of yard tracks and sidings were acquired in 1917.
