The railroad of the Detroit and Western Railway, herein called the Detroit and Western, is a single-track line located at Oakwood, Mich., comprising 0.655 mile of road and structures.


CORPORATE HISTORY

The Detroit and Western was incorporated December 31, 1908, under the general laws of Michigan, for a period of 30 years, to construct and operate a railroad from Detroit to Oakwood, Mich., about 5 miles. The date of its organization was February 24, 1909.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage, 0.655 mile, was all acquired by construction during the period from May 1909 to March 1910. The records reviewed do not indicate whether the construction work was performed by the company's forces or by contract. There is a difference of 0.025 mile between the mileage recorded by this company, 0.68 mile, and the mileage, 0.655 mile, inventoried as of date of valuation.
