The railroad of Crittenden Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located in the eastern part of Arkansas. The main line extends in a southerly direction from Earle to Olneyville. Several spurs running to lumber camps constitute the only branches. The carrier owns 22.014 miles of road and 9.493 miles of yard and side tracks, a total of 31.507 miles of all tracks owned. In Appendix 1 will be found a general description of the property of the carrier.
Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated July 19, 1905, for a period of 50 years, under the general laws of Arkansas. The carrier was incorporated in the interests of the Crittenden Lumber Company, which constructed the original road acquired by the carrier and owned or controlled timber properties in the territory served by the carrier's road. The purpose for which the carrier was incorporated was to construct, maintain, and operate a railroad from Earle to a point in St. Francis County, all in Arkansas, a distance of about 15 miles. The date of organization was August 10, 1905.
The carrier has always been operated by its own organization. The principal office is located at Earle and its general office at Crittenden, Ark. The detailed facts as to the development of the fixed physical property are given in Appendix 2.
