The railroad of the Charlotte, Monroe and Columbia Railroad Company, herein called the Charlotte, Monroe and Columbia, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in South Carolina. The main line extends from McBee to Jefferson, a distance of 17.159 miles. The Charlotte, Monroe and Columbia also owns 1.136 miles of yard tracks and sidings. Its road thus embraces 18.295 miles of all tracks owned.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The Charlotte, Monroe and Columbia was incorporated January 15, 1901, under the General Railroad Incorporation Act of South Carolina for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from McBee to the North Carolina State line in the direction of Monroe, N. C.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The road owned by the Charlotte, Monroe and Columbia, 17.159 miles, was acquired by it through construction during the years 1901, 1902, and 1903. Further information respecting the construction of the property was not obtained.
