The Central Railway Company of Arkansas, hereinafter called the carrier, owns and operates a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located entirely within the State of Arkansas. Its line extends from Ola to Brizz in the form of a letter V, of which the angle is at Plainview. Main-line tracks aggregate 13.128 miles, yard tracks and siding 2.052 miles, and all tracks 15.18 miles.

Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated under the general laws of Arkansas on January 31, 1906, on which date its articles were filed with the secretary of state, for a term of 50 years. The stated purpose of the corporation was to construct, maintain, and operate a steam railroad between Dardanelle, Yell County, and Hot Springs, Garland County, 70 miles, and Plainview, Yell County, and Waldron, Scott County, 60 miles, or a total of 130 miles, all within the State of Arkansas.

The corporate right to construct a railroad over practically the same route had previously been acquired under the laws of Arkansas by the Central Railroad Company of Arkansas, which was incorporated about March, 1903. For the apparent reason that it could not, within the time required by law, construct the required percentage of its projected line, this company on March 10, 1906, conveyed its property, rights, and franchises to the carrier by a deed which names the consideration as $15,000.
