The railroad of the Camino, Placerville and Lake Tahoe Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track, standard-gage, steam railroad, located in the west-central part of the State of California. The main line extends easterly from Placerville to Camino, a distance of 8.049 miles. The carrier also owns 0.890 mile of yard track and sidings. Its road thus embraces 8.939 miles of all tracks owned and used. The carrier has trackage rights for a distance of about 1 mile over the tracks of the Southern Pacific Company to reach the latter's station at Placerville, Calif. This is an industrial railroad controlled by and operated in the interest of the Michigan–California Lumber Company, owners of a large sawmill at Camino, Calif.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated December 23, 1911, under the general laws of California, to acquire and operate tlie railroad formerly owned by the Placerville and Lake Tahoe Railway Company, extending from Placerville to Camino, Calif., and to trade in securities of other domestic or foreign corporations. The date of its organization was December 23, 1911.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PBOPERTY

The road, all owned, 8.049 miles, extending from Placerville to Camino. Calif., was all acquired by purchase in January 1912 from C. D. Danaher, who had previously acquired it at foreclosure sale in December 1911 from the Placerville and Lake Tahoe Railway Company. The property was constructed by or for the latter company in 1904.

PLACERVILLE AND LAKE TAHOE RAILWAY COMPANY—PREDECESSOR OF CAMINO, PLACERVILLE AND LAKE TAHOE RAILROAD COMPANY

The Placerville and Lake Tahoe Railway Company was incorporated under the general laws of California, August 11, 1904, to build a railroad from Placerville to Camino, Calif. There are no available accounting records of this company. It owned a single-track railroad extending from Placerville to Camino, Calif., about 8 miles, which was constructed in 1904. Its principal business was the transportation of forest products and lumber of the El Dorado Lumber Company. Operations of the road were discontinued in August 1909, upon failure of the lumber company. The road was sold under foreclosure in December 1911, and conveyed to the Camino, Placerville and Lake Tahoe Railroad Company in January 1912.
