The railroad of the Bevier & Southern Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, extending southwardly from Bevier to Ardmore, Mo., a distance of 9.752 miles. The carrier wholly owns and uses 10.595 miles of all tracks, which are classified in the trackage table in Appendix 1.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated May 5, 1898, under the general laws of the State of Missouri as the Kansas & Texas Coal Railway, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad for public use from a point at or near the town of Ardmore, to Bevier, a distance of about 10 miles. On July 24, 1902, the name was changed to Missouri & Louisiana Railroad Company and on September 28, 1914, it was changed to the Bevier & Southern Railroad Company.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The owned mileage of the carrier, amounting to 9.752, was acquired by it through construction which was performed sometime during the period between 1898 and 1902. The records examined do not indicate whether this property was constructed by the forces of the carrier or by others under contract.
