The railroad of the Augusta Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, consists of 1.649 miles of single-track standard-gauge steam railroad extending from Augusta to New Augusta, Ark. In addition to the above main-track mileage it owns 1.006 miles of yard tracks and sidings, making an aggregate of all tracks of 2.664 miles.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The road owned and operated by the carrier on date of valuation was acquired by purchase from the Augusta Tramway & Transfer Company. Though the carrier was not incorporated until May 8, 1918, the incorporators acquired possession of the property and commenced operations on January 1, 1918, as a result of a receiver's sale made on December 20, 1917. About 1.25 miles had been constructed by the Augusta & White River Railroad in May, 1892, and about 0.25 mile added by the Augusta Tramway & Transfer Company.
