The railroad of the Atlantic & Carolina Railroad Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, extending eastwardly from Warsaw to Kenansville, N. C., a distance of 9.511 miles. The carrier wholly owns and uses 10.796 miles of all tracks, which are classified in the trackage table in Appendix 1.

CORPORATE HISTORY

The carrier was incorporated March 30, 1914, under the general laws of the State of North Carolina, for the purpose of constructing and operating a railroad from Warsaw to Kenansville, a distance of about 10 miles.

DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY

The owned mileage of the carrier, 9.511 miles, was all acquired by purchase from the Rowland Lumber Company on April 12, 1915. The road was constructed by the Rowland Lumber Company during the years 1913, 1914, and 1915. The grading for this railroad was done under contract by DeLucas Brothers and C. D. Hallock.
