The company operated its property with its own organization from the date constructed by it to December 31, 1917. On January 1, 1918, its common-carrier property was taken over for operation by the United States Railroad Administration, and was so operated on date of valuation.
- CORPORATE HISTORY
The carrier was incorporated January 3, 1912, under the general laws of the State of Tennessee, for the purpose of constructing a double-track bridge over the Mississippi River at Memphis, Tenn.
- DEVELOPMENT OF FIXED PHYSICAL PROPERTY
The owned property of the carrier comprising a double-track steel bridge and railroad tracks adjacent to and crossing the bridge, was acquired by construction, most of which was performed during the period February 28, 1914, to July 15, 1916. It is pointed out that when this bridge was constructed a double wagon way was built attached thereto. This wagon way and the approaches thereto were deeded to the city of Memphis, Tenn., and Crittenden County, Ark., upon payment of certain sums of money toward the cost of the approaches.
