Wikipedia:WikiProject The KLF/Old todo list
Here's a list of the KLF Communications music articles which need more work and then (for those not yet Good Articles formally) nomination. Our main initiative on this front is to tackle the duo's singles and albums in chronological order (but please do feel free to contribute wherever you feel so inspired). We will be attempting to get the quality of all of these up to A-Class (that is, barring minor edits or new information, they should be "complete"). Depending on length and the availability of sources, the goal may be Featured Article status (FA).
Most of The JAMs/pre-KLF stuff is now tidying up, nominating for editorial validation (GA, FA) and finding references. The serious work is on Bill Drummond, Jimmy Cauty, and the KLF recordings and I - Kingboyk would like to make fixing those articles up a priority for my wiki work. If you can help, and can write/research to the high standard we've been aiming for, your help would be greatly appreciated.
Let's get the JAMs stuff sorted and move onto The KLF!
This list is sorted in approximately chronological order. The most important articles are emboldened.
Article | Year | FA/GA? | FAC contender now? | FAC eventually? | To-do list/comments |
Scott Piering | 1946 | None | No | ?
Bill Drummond | 1953 | None | No | Yes | I've started adding references and quotes (there's no shortage of material). We need a section on Bill's art projects. The article is currently in a rough state but has great potential. |
Jimmy Cauty | 1956 | None | No | Yes | Have also started improving this one, but it's harder because Bill said a lot more, most articles are about "The KLF" or "Bill"; also we might struggle for sources on that other vital part of Jimmy's career - ambient house |
Alan Goodrick (Gimpo) | ? | None | No | No
Big in Japan | 1977 | None | No | Probably not
From Y to Z and Never Again | 1978 | None | No | No
Zoo Records | 1978 | None | No | Not from WP:KLF
Brilliant (band) | 1983 | None | No | Doubtful
The Man (album) | 1986 | None | No | ? | Failed GA (and not up to that standard I feel). |
The KLF | 1987 | FA | N/A | N/A | |
The KLF discography | 1987 | None | No | No | This failed as a featured list candidate, with something of a culture clash it has to be said. No plans to butcher the article just to get it featured. |
All You Need Is Love (The JAMs song) | 1987 | FA | N/A | N/A
1987 (What the Fuck Is Going On?) | 1987 | FA | N/A | N/A
Whitney Joins The JAMs | 1987 | GA | Almost there | Yes | Possible FA contender after a copyedit - short but comprehensive. Lack of sources is a bit of a worry for this one, though. |
Disco 2000 | 1987 | None | No | ?
Down Town | 1987 | GA | Possibly | Yes | A nice read but I'm not sure if it's up to scratch or not, and Peer Review doesn't seem much use these days.
It's probably as complete and comprehensive as it can be, which ought to be enough for FA. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to throw it out to FAC to find out though :) As with other possibles on this page, feedback from other folks would be most welcome. |
The Moody Boys | 1988 | None | No | Doubtful
Who Killed The JAMs? | 1988 | None yet | No | ?
Burn the Bastards | 1988 | GA | Possibly | Yes | This article has gone as far as it can I think. FA standard? Again, not sure - references are a real problem with this one; I've asked Stuart (Librarian of Mu) if he has anything. Same as "Down Town" really. |
Doctorin' the Tardis | 1988 | GA | Not yet | Yes
The Manual | 1988 | None | No | ?
What Time Is Love? | 1988 | GA | No | Yes
A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From the Centre of the Ultraworld | 1989 | None | No | No | Not started by WP:KLF but within scope (Cauty-era Orb landmark track) |
Shag Times | 1989 | None | GA | Probably too short
3 a.m. Eternal | 1989 | None | No | Yes but a long way off | Quite woeful for such an important part of the canon. |
The "What Time Is Love?" Story | 1989 | None | No | Doubtful | Failed GA. A bit lightweight on its own, but the What Time Is Love? article already covers 3 singles and adding an album too just overloads the article. |
The KLF films | 1989 | None | No | No, placeholder article
Kylie Said To Jason | 1989 | None | No | ?
Chill Out (KLF album) | 1990 | Needs a little more work. Delisted GA. | Yes
Space (album) | 1990 | None | No | Don't know
Last Train to Trancentral | 1990 | GA | No | Yes | A solid start. Need to provide more context and, if possible, more press reaction. Shouldn't be too hard to get this up to FA standard. |
The White Room | 1991 | None yet | No | Essential | Way below par. |
It's Grim Up North | 1991 | GA | No | Probably
Justified and Ancient | 1991 | GA | Not yet | Yes | A nice piece but a few uncited opinions there. GA and has further potential, but will need work before FAC. |
The Black Room | 1992 | None | No | Probably not
K Foundation | 1993 | GA | Maybe | Yes | Current GA nominee. This is an overview piece, which brings together the KF projects but sends readers to the longer articles on each specific KF project for the real detail. |
K Cera Cera | 1993 | None | No | Probably not
K Foundation art award | 1993 | GA | Soon? | Yes | Current GA nominee. |
The K Foundation burn a million quid | 1994 | None | Get GA first | Yes
Fuck the Millennium | 1997 | FA | N/A | N/A
45 (book) | 2000 | None | No | Possible
Transit Kings | 2001 | None | No | ?
Blacksmoke | 2003 | None | No | Doubtful
Living in a Giant Candle Winking at God | 2006 | Redlink | No | ? | New album by Transit Kings. Cauty involved in about half the tracks, so within our remit. |
List of The KLF's creative associates | None | No | Possible |
