Argiope appensa
[edit]- Image:Sugar cane spider.jpg looks like it would be rather easy to determine. --Sarefo 04:57, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think it looks more like Gasteracantha rather than Micrathena. There may be other genera with hard abdomens. P0M 19:43, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- to me it looks like something similar to an Argiope. The similarity to G. and M. doesn't extend to the anterior part of the spider. Oh, wha? just noticed that some anonymous editor had the same idea earlier this day. what about this picture? (Argiope appensa) It's blurry like hell, but the legs look very much alike. I think we found it :) --Sarefo 22:01, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
- I was going to mention that the legs are held very much like some of the Argiope that make stabilimuntum as extensions of their legs. This one isn't in the center of its web, so thet sign is not in evidence. If you Google on Argiope appensa and then look just at the images you will find some clear pictures. I think you're right. P0M
