- Arkona (Russian band) by User:Skyforger - are they notable? Alex Bakharev 13:50, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Delete as self-promo and vanity. Their website says their next concert is going to take place at the Relax Club... My brother's band plays there, too. I guess I should write an article about my bro's band as well :). KNewman 14:52, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- Self-promo and vanity it might be, but I still would like to point out that according to WP:MUS a band is considered notable when it "[h]as released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels...". The article did not mention which label the band used for its releases, but then WP:MUS specifically states that "[f]ailing to satisfy the notability guidelines is not a criterion for speedy deletion [under A7]". As such, I have restored this article. Please feel free to proceed with AfD if you believe the article fails other guidelines.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:11, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- So you won't delete an article about this band? [1] Then I'm gonna PR my friend's band (and later my brother's band, as well). Check out the "indie" label they recorded on, nice pictures of their albums, and excellent quality of the sound. Gosh! Wikipedia is becoming a dump for everything there is! No wonder best of our editors have already left this place... KNewman 19:22, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's not that I won't delete it, it's that I want the deletion to be done properly. This is not about me wanting to keep all the junk there is, it's about procedure and procedure only. Arkona is now listed on AfD, by the way.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 19:28, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

- The Snow Queen (1957 film) - might as well mention it now. I created it yesterday and Drboisclair has done a terrific write-up with the plot (albeit of the English-language version - perhaps the Russian version differs?). It would also be nice to find an original 1957 poster somewhere (if one exists) and to find the names of all the actors for the English-language versions. Esn 20:52, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- Heh, one of the favorite films of my childhood, recorded in VHS. The current poster below the infobox could be added instead if there is a lack of original. --Brand спойт 01:59, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oh no, I'd really rather not. The US poster is not representative of the original film - the entire soundtrack was changed in the US version, and a live-action framing device was added. I'm not saying that the film was butchered by any means, since apparently a wide variety of English-speaking folks enjoyed it. However, the fact remains that Universal tried very hard to hide the Soviet origin of the film when they released it (they knew that if American critics had found out at the time that it was Soviet, they would have ripped it to shreds). And it was the original version that went on to win all the awards, not the American one. Esn 03:24, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

- Some more articles about Russian animation by me: Little Longnose, The Magic Pipe, The Night Before Christmas (1951 film), The Scarlet Flower (1952 film), The Snow Maiden (1952 film), The Enchanted Boy, The Twelve Months. Can anyone please tell me how the title "режиссёр-постановщик" translates into English, and how it is different from "режиссёр"? Esn 00:05, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- According to Lingvo, режиссёр-постановщик is producer. The term is sometimes attached to film directors, being properly used in choreography as I think. --Brand спойт 00:37, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Then what is "продюсер"? If you look over here, you will see separate credits for the "режиссёр-постановщик" and "продюсер". If you look over here, you will see separate credits for "режиссёр-постановщик" and "режиссёр". And it's not "executive producer" either - that's "директор" (compare Russian and English credits over here). So, does this mean that "режиссёр-постановщик" is a job title that doesn't exist in English - some kind of mix between "producer" and "director"? Esn 00:44, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- Quite funny. Most likely you should ask someone else who has both English and Russian indicated as his/her native languages. --Brand спойт 01:06, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- According to my sources, "режиссёр-постановщик" translates as "television producer" on television, and as "director-producer" in cinematography. The latter is sometimes abbreviated to either "director" or "producer", both of which are, strictly speaking, inaccurate. Yet another variant is "production producer", which is closer to "видеорежиссёр". Hope it helps.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 17:24, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- It does, thanks! So do you think it would be accurate then to put the person credited as "director-producer" into both the "producer" and "director" sections in the film infobox? Or should I petition the maintainers of the infobox to add an extra title? Esn 21:57, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- You might actually want to ask around appropriate wikiproject for advice. They might have better suggestion for terminology—like I said before, I am no expert in how animation production works.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 14:42, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
