[edit]Oklahoma land openings
[edit]Wnalyd (talk · contribs) has pointed out that at least one article (Oklahoma Land Race) relating to the oklahoma land openings is factually inaccurate. This should get fixed and the other articles looked at.
Here's a list of Oklahoma land openings from http://marti.rootsweb.com/land/oklands.html:
- Oklahoma Territory's First Land Run (1889 April 22)
- Iowa, Sac, Fox, Pottawatomie, and Shawnee Lands (1891 September 22)
- Cheyenne and Arapaho land opened by land run (1892 April 19)
- Cherokee Outlet opened by land run (1893 September 16)
- Kickapoo lands opened (1895 May 3)
- Greer County decision made in United States vs. Texas (1896 March 16)
- Wichita-Caddo and Comanche, Kiowa and Apache lands (1901 August 1)
- This was actually a "land lottery"
- Ponca, Otoe-Missouri and Kaw (Kansas) reservations (1904)
- Osage Allotment Act passed (1906)
- Big Pasture lands opened by bids (1906 December)
- US State (1907 November 16)
Progress
[edit]- I have completed Land Run of 1889. No doubt it's riddled with grammar issues, etc. but the info is there. We still could use pages on the other land runs: Land Run of 1891, Land Run of 1892, Land Run of 1893, and Land Run of 1895. Ash Lux 21:01, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- I added a piece on the "sooners" to this history. I hope it is ok. I thought a little collaboration might be appreciated. I am going to see if I can't turn in this article to FYI, as it is now "new." Kukini 03:52, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- DYI, forgot about that. Technically the article was a redirect more than 120 hours ago, but now it has some content. We should go ahead and submit something :-) Ash Lux 11:17, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah...DYI...I saw that right after I wrote this...then I noticed that the article probably doesn't qualify. You can try tho...I got to do some errands. Kukini 15:32, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- The rules on WP:DYK say new page as well as former stubs or redirects that have been greatly expanded "are also encouraged". Ash Lux 15:56, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

- Fingers crossed. We will need to work on getting more pictures into our work. Kukini 03:46, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Historic places
[edit]Pretty much all of the following historic places need to be created (from the National Register of Historic Places). If you do not have an good photo for these places already, please place {{reqphotoin|Oklahoma}} in the talk pages. Also, consider submiting a sentence for the did you know feature on the Main page. If you do not have time or desire to come up with a DYK, please post a request at WikiProject Oklahoma or on my talk page. Thanks. Ash Lux 11:22, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
