Passed its GA last week, I've copyedited it this week (with some input from other users) and believe that it meets the A-Class requirements. I'm aware of the need for a technical copyedit. I intend to get one in September. Other than that, I feel that it meets the requirements. Respectfully submit for A-Class. Cam (Chat) 05:34, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Support. It looks good, my only suggestion is to try to find some more images/maps. Besides the infobox, there's just one other image, which leads to long blocks of text. Borg Sphere (talk) 14:50, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment This is a good article, but it needs some work to reach A-class status. My suggestions for it are:
- Some blocks of text, particularly those concerning changes to the division's organisation, aren't referenced (for instance, the para which begins with "In 1941, the Toronto Scottish Regiment were moved from the First Canadian Division...")
- There are too many short one or two paragraph sections - these could be combined with the neigbouring sections.
- "In June 1940, the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division was earmarked for garrison duty by the forces of the British Commonwealth" - I don't believe that there was a central headquarters which allocated Commonwealth troops, but rather that this was negotiated between the various governments on the advice and recomendations of the various militaries (and especially the British military)
- "On the whole, however, the division was felt to be a "better division" than the First, especially in terms of discipline and staff work." - needs a citation
- Why was the division's entire senior leadership replaced in 1943? Was this due to the failure of the Dieppe raid, or were they moving to different jobs (eg, new commands as the Canadian Army expanded).
- Clarified a bit. Cam (Chat) 05:56, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- "On 9 March 1944, the 2nd Canadian Infantry Division was inspected by the British Monarchy" - which members of the Monarchy? (there are dozens of Royals, and they obviously didn't all visit the division).
- Clarified (it was George VI). Cam (Chat) 05:56, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- The First Canadian Army article says that the Army was formed in 1942, so it wasn't "newly-activated" in 1944 - do you mean 'newly-arrived'?.
- It was formed in 1942, but not activated as a combat-force until 1944 (July 23, to be exact). That was simply a matter of not having enough divisions in one location to form an actual combat force in a combat-zone. Cam (Chat) 17:01, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- The "Battle of the Scheldt" section seems rather short given to the extensive coverage of the fighting in Normandy. Nick Dowling (talk) 11:10, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Doing. Cam (Chat) 06:48, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- We have the 1st Canadian Division and the 3rd Canadian Division mentioned but the article has the divisional title as the 2nd Canadian and the 2d Canadian Division. Is 2d a typo ? if not the title of the unit should be consistant in the article Jim Sweeney (talk) 10:25, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Those would be typos. Fixed (I don't even know how those got there. Cam (Chat) 16:38, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Provide a link to General Crerar who is mentioned by surname only in Operation Totalize and securing the channel ports sections. Jim Sweeney (talk) 08:21, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Done. Cam (Chat) 17:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- "When the uncertainties concerning overseas deployment were abetted" should be rephrased. In particular, remove "abetted": it's not helpful to use 19th century English. I only had to make 4 minor edits in my read-through, which is unusually good. Kudos to the copyeditor(s).
- The general lack of pictures should be rectified. I'm certain other images relating to the Canadian 2nd Infantry / Commonwealth forces are available. For example, images of their weapons & equipment would be of interest. More maps are always good eg. where is Dieppe?
- Please place a request at the WP:Graphic Lab/Image workshop for your maps to be vectorised (converted to SVG). This will improve their appearance and increase their usefulness in non-English WPs.
- I'll do it at the MilHist Logistics Department under that section. I'd do it myself, but my graphics manipulation abilities are somewhere between "nonexistant" and "dismal". Cam (Chat) 17:40, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- It would be a valuable addition to the article to state the consequences of each action. For example, the Dieppe raid influenced planning for Torch and Overlord, the capture of X led to Y...
- Overall, good work. Dhatfield (talk) 16:21, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this is a good article and worthy of A-Class, the lack of images is a concern but hell there was a war on (have you seen the map of the Divisions advance in europe on the 4th Canadian Infantry Brigade page) Jim Sweeney (talk) 08:41, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
