- Anyone can sign-up at any point in time during the duration of the edit a thon. The point of the competition is to encourage anyone to join, even if it's minuscule, any participation is an encouraging sign to continue this sort of competition.
- All articles you are willing to undertake must satisfy the criteria for inclusion. If you are unsure the article you are working on meets the criteria, discuss your inquiries on the discussion page. It is better to ask about the criteria eligibility if you are unsure than to work on the article anyway, as it may be disqualified from inclusion in the edit a thon competition on the basis of ineligibility.
- While participating, familiarize yourself with the manual of styles of music-related articles and record charts. All new articles must satisfy the notability of inclusion or they may be proposed for deletion.
