Wikipedia:WikiProject Judaism/Collaboration

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page was previously known as the Wikipedia:Judaism Collaboration of the Week from late 2006 until early 2007, but has been inactive since, until                   a trial reactivation in 2011. A record of older nominations and collaborations is kept here.

The purpose of this page is to expand and/or improve existing articles about Judaism on Wikipedia. This is done by every month, choosing an article from WikiProject Judaism, picked using this page, and having a cooperative
attempt to further improve the quality (and if necessary size) of the chosen article. The central aim of this collaboration is improving articles to Good or Featured status every month through the project wide editing process. Any user (with or without an account) can nominate an article to become the collaboration.

On the last day of each month, whichever article has the greatest score by votes (a support vote counts as +1, while an oppose votes costs as -1) becomes the Judaism Collaboration of the Month. Once a selected article has spent a month as the collaboration, it is replaced. For more information on the procedure see here. As this page develops, more rules will be made by the community on an as needed basis. Happy nominating!

How this page works

[edit]

How to nominate and vote for articles:       If you wish to nominate an article then you should add the article's name to the current candidates section, right now that is Candidates for the September article for Wikifacation. Do this by clicking edit in that section (or click here) and then adding at the bottom of all the other candidates ===Some Article===, where "Some Article" is the name of the article you wish to nominate. Then under that you can vote for the article you just nominated (though technically you don't have to). To vote for an article click edit on the current candidates section and find the article name, it will be surrounded by three equal signs on each side. Then scroll down past all the others votes for the particular article and type '''Support/Oppose''' Your reasoning for why you think so. ~~~~ . Please try not to overdo your reasoning, a good rule of thumb is two sentences maximum unless absolutely necessary. "Support" counts as +1 while "Oppose" counts as -1, any user can vote for any number of different articles but users are only allowed one vote per article. Changing your vote (especially after a few days) is highly undesirable, but is allowed. Vandalizing this page's vote section, such as altering or removing some users votes, is a very severe WikiCrime.

Technical information on how to maintain this page:       The following is information for Users who maintain this page and while everybody is encouraged to read this, it will not be needed for most users. The only parts of this page that need to be edited fairy regularly are the vote/nomination section and the past collaborations section. The template section should be updated on an as needed basis as different templates are added to this initiative. The heading section may need to be partially improved but should stay relatively similar to the state in which it currently is in (in terms of material covered). This section should be updated when new rules and procedures are created. Now back to the parts of this page that need to be semi-frequently updated, the past collaborations section should be edited when a collaboration has finished its month long editing process, simply add the name of the article proceeded by an asterisk, for instance, add *[[Example]]. Most important to semi-regularly edit is the Vote/nomination section, which truly is not a section. About halfway through each month, a user should click edit (for the entire page) and scroll down to where there is a note that reads, in short, <!---The Template:JCOLLAB should be substituted on the following line--->. As the note says, go to the next line, you'll have to bring the WikiCode that's on that line down one, and add {{subst:JCOLLAB|Month}}, where "month" is the name of the upcoming month. If this WikiCode is already there, somebody else already did it. This template implants base structure of the nomination/vote section. Doing this laso makes sure that the most current votes are always at the top of the page. Once that section is three months old, it should be moved, in its entirety to here. the other part of this page that should be maintained is, ironically, not on this page. Go to Template:JCOTW article and change the text so that it is the current chosen article, if the template (which is very important because it's part of other more noticeable templates) is up to date, this task has already been done. Thanks for reading through all of this!
